I think we are almost recovered from last weeks inadvertent dairy introduction extravaganza and the corresponding Cry Fest 2008. As if my vegan milk now tastes SO MUCH BETTER, Miss Leyba has been indulging in LONG hourly breastfeeding sessions during the day and night until last night when she decided that she’s simply had enough, Mama, and decided to sleep in long stretches. Hallelujah! David and I feel less strung out this morning. This is so good. May the sleeping at night trend continue.
Passover begins today and that means very little in our house, because for us it’s PASSOVER EVERY DAY! I mean, who eats leavened products nowadays? REALLY. It’s gotten really easy to celebrate this holiday since I stopped eating gluten two years ago. Mom, are you proud?
We’re doing a simple meal tonight and we’re going to try reintroducing… white fish! May Miss Leyba tolerate it. I’ve got to get my protein levels up. Next up: nut butters, eggs, and then soy.
In other exciting news, my Audrey Hepburn blog is now #4 on Google’s search for “Audrey Hepburn!” (AGAIN! Finally. I cried when my main site got knocked to the second page two years ago.) I’m officially done with my maternity leave over there too, so be sure to check out my Tribute to Audrey Hepburn for all sorts of Audrey Hepburn related news and goodness. It will be slow going for a while, but it’s nice having a personal project that is entirely separate from my daughter. (Gasp!) Of course, she may grow up to love Audrey Hepburn too.
you make me remember that I need to eat more healthy and organic.
Hey Carrie, Check out John Robbins book Diet for a New America – you get all the protein you need from greens and animal protein diminishes calcium. Your family is looking fabulous! :) love AvIvA
Rachel: Awesome! I feel that way every time I get an email update from 101 cookbooks with a great, healthy recipe. :)
Avivia: I will have to check out that book! For almost 20 years I have gotten my protein sources primarily from vegetables and legumes (primarily chickpeas, lentils, tofu, beans, soy, broccoli, etc.) but because Miss Leyba can’t seem to tolerate any gas causing foods right now, those foods are out, and I feel like I am back to square one.
