Chilling and chatting

This movie is from the end of September (two weeks ago), but I thought it was too cute not to post.

Here is Miss Leyba hanging with her daddy on a lazy Sunday afternoon. (You can tell she’s really tired because she rarely stands still…) She has been more cuddly lately and we’re loving it!

Did you catch her saying Daddy?

She’s calling us by name more frequently now. The other day we caught her saying “Hi, Daddy!” when he walked in the door from work. The girl learns fast!

Yoga social hour

While the mamas do yoga, the babies play. Miss Leyba totally digs it.

Yesterday I set up my mat right next to the toy chest and she was in heaven. She would head off and explore the toys, then come over and check in with me. (Versus the last time we went and she just played by the toys the whole class… can you tell she’s recently moved into a mama-only phase?!)

Yesterdays class was especially fun because there were three other babies approximately Miss Leyba’s age (she was the youngest!) and she had a blast playing with new toys and chatting it up with her friends.

We need to go more often.

Oh, yummers!

We’ve discovered that Miss Leyba eats a greater quantity of solid food when she feeds herself. We put some pureed deliciousness on a teaspoon (because she only wants to eat from our spoons… not hers) and then hand it to her and she feeds herself. Sometimes she’s really devious and gets a hold of the bowl too.

Love my independent woman.

To date, she’s currently tried:

  • butternut squash,
  • avocado,
  • banana,
  • quinoa and rice cereals,
  • apple,
  • pear, and
  • peas.

Banana is by far her favorite, especially when she’s sharing one that I’m eating… it’s messy, but fun!

Friends gave us their used Stokke Tripp Trapp (boy did we luck out!) and it’s worked perfectly for our family. Instead of a typical high chair, she can sit with us at the table… and she loves it!
